B&Q is based on a large portal frame building used as a DIY store. The building comprising of an un-compartmented high bay warehouse. A rapidly developing fire starts in the paints & varnishes section of the store. There is an incomplete role call. Initial fire fighting operations can be achieved internally but will be pushed external after some time. An effective fire break can save the Garden centre but the store will be a complete loss.

Fire Develops inside a vehicle repair unit. The rapidly developing fire can spread laterally or outside to the scrap yard at the rear. There is potential for cylinder involvement.

The rapidly developing fire can spread laterally or outside to the locked car park at the rear. There is potential for cylinder involvement. Adjacent building used for small animal storage also becomes smoke logged due to air intake fans on the side of the building facing the fire. Towards the end of the exercise a gas maine in the rear car park can also become involved.

A car fire adjacent to the pallet yard. The fire spreads and on arrival the pallet yard is involved in fire. There are cylinders on the fork lift truck and also possibly within the yard. There is massive fore development and adjacent properties are at risk. There is potential for fire to spread to adjacent property.

You are called out at 13:05 as part of a two pump attendance to Habour Avenue Service Station, Habour Road, Anytown. Both pumps will arrive together. On arrival you can clearly see smoke, issuing from the roof of the building as you approach you are met by the Manager of the petrol station.

A timber built civic hall of laminated timber portal frame construction. Following an evening function the premises was locked securely. Approximately 1½ hours later smoke was seen issuing from the premises.
